Foundation Stone for the Tennis courts

A proud and defining moment for 91 Yards Club as the Foundation Stone for the tennis courts of the NYC Tennis Centre was laid yesterday, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our tennis journey.
Grateful for the presence of the tennis legends, Mr. Tony Roche, and Mr. Jaidip Mukerjea, alongwith other valuable dignitaries including Saurav Chatterjee, President, CC&FC and Devajit Saikia, Secretary, BCCI and General Secretary, 91 Yards Club.

91 Yards Club and CC&FC entered into a reciprocal agreement to enhance collaboration

Strengthening bonds and building new pathways in sport, 91 Yards Club and CC&FC entered into a reciprocal agreement to enhance collaboration, last evening, at the 91 Yards Club premises.
The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Devajit Saikia, as the General Secretary of 91 Yards and Mr. Saurav Chatterjee, President of CC&FC, marking a proud moment for both institutions.
We were also delighted to extend an honorary membership to Mr. Saurav Chatterjee, President, CC&FC, and tennis legends Mr. Tony Roche and Mr. Jaidip Mukerjea in recognition of this milestone.

1st Get-together & Felicitation

Glimpses from yesterday’s “1st Get-Together” where the club felicitated the parents of Riyan Parag and Uma Chetry, the first cricketers of the state to represent senior men’s and women’s categories of the Indian Team respectively. Further, the first coaches of Riyan Parag and Uma Chetry were also honoured at the function.    

Former cricket great Farokh Engineer attended ACA event

Former Indian cricket great Farokh Engineer attended a programme ‘An Evening with the Legend’, arranged by ACA Cricket Academy. The event took place at the 91 Yards Club (ACA Stadium premises) in Guwahati on Saturday. The highlight of the evening was a conversation session with the cricketing legend, moderated by veteran journalist and author Wasbir Hussain. This segment offered insights into the Engineer’s illustrious career and his experiences in the world of cricket. During the conversation, Engineer applauded the initiatives by the ACA Cricket Academy. He hoped that Guwahati would get a Test venue status soon. Engineer shared several anecdotes from his playing days. He mentioned how he was invited by Sir Donald Bradman after a day’s play of a Test match in Australia. Adding to the significance of the event, Assam’s most senior living cricketer, 97-year-old Naba Kamal Bhuyan who presented Assam in the Ranji Trophy in 1948, was also in attendance, further enriching the occasion with his presence. In addition to the engaging conversation, attendees also enjoyed a musical session featuring the acclaimed violinist Sunita Khaund Bhuyan, adding a cultural dimension to the celebration of cricketing excellence. The 86-year-old wicketkeeper batter made his debut for India in 1961 and went on to play 46 Test matches for the country. His first match was against England in Kanpur and his last appearance for India was in 1975 against West Indies at Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai. He also represented English County side Lancashire in the 1960s and 70s. Engineer, who resides in London these days, is one of the oldest living cricketers of India. “It was a great moment for us to have Mr Farokh Engineer amongst ourselves. Listening to him was an enriching experience for many of us,” said BCCI Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia who is also the Member Secretary of ACA Cricket Academy.

Legendary Former Indian Cricketer Farokh Engineer in Guwahati City

 

ACA Cricket Academy is hosting an interaction session with legendary Former Indian Cricketer Farokh Engineer with the event named “An Evening with the Legend”. The venue of the event is 91 Yards Club Auditorium, ACA Stadium Complex, Barsapara, Guwahati, on April 6th. 2024 from 6:30 PM onwards. The enlightening conversation will be led by veteran journalist and author Mr. Wasbir Hussain. This event promises to offer insights into Engineer’s illustrious career and his experiences in the world of cricket.

Adding to the significance of the event, Shri Naba Kamal Bhuyan, 95 years old, senior most living cricketer of Assam who represented the State in the Ranji Trophy in 1948, will also grace the occasion as a special guest, further enriching the evening.

In addition to the engaging conversation, attendees can look forward to a musical rendition featuring the acclaimed violinist Sunita Khaund Bhuyan and her band.
